Abstract
- The innovative era of 1913 mirrors the timeless quality of the lake nurtured by the turbulent interplay of the elements. Winds of change accompanied by social upheavals ushered in a new spirit in liberal arts and politics. The Armory Show heralded the advent of a new future plan in high arts represented by futurism, expressionism and cubism. The protests of a public intent on preserving traditions evoked a new politicized response marked by militant excitement. In 1913, a new future was being cast where hopes and fears merged to replenish the life force through renewal.
