Abstract
- The layered vanadium arsenate BaVO2(AsO4) was synthesized under hydrothermal conditions by the reaction of V2O3, V2O5 with Ba(OH)2.8H2O and H3AsO4. The layered vanadium arsenate with a V2O2 core is composed of Ba2+ cations that are located in the van der Waals gap in the O atom linear channels of V2O42+ and AsOsub4sup3- groups. The vanadium complex also exhibited two distorted VO6 polyhedra that are linked by double bridges with AsO4 moieties.
