Abstract
- Reverse transcriptases (RTs) have a significant role in the propagation of several genetic elements. They duplicate the RNA genomes of retroviruses and long terminal repeat transposons into double stranded DNA that has to be integrated into the host genome to ensure proliferation. Long Interspersed Nucleotide Element-like materials are non-long terminal repeat retrotransposons that also require RT.
