Abstract: The discovery of an anionic amphiphilic dendrimer possessing Gram-positive antibacterial activity and minimal eukaryotic cell toxicity is described. This selectivity is of chemical, biological and clinical interest, as antibacterials such as these might be maximally effective against microbial infections without harming the host.
