Abstract
- The amplitude and stability of the membrane potential (Em) of purified rat peritoneal mast cells (PMCs) were analyzed to determine the effects of stem cell factors (SCF) on membrane integrity. Analysis of Em in purified PMCs from the rodent peritoneal lavage indicated the role of SCF in inducing Em instability which increased membrane capacitance. Furthermore, simultaneous recording of Em and real-time image analysis indicated the role of SCF in the maintenance and protection of purified PMCs in long-term culture.
