Abstract
- Scheduled to be launched in the second half of 2010, China will build a private satellite for French operator Eutelsat Communications. The U.S. prohibits China from building satellites made with U.S.-built technology, and the restriction has prevented China from reaching any satellite deals with major European or Asian operators in the past decade. Article discusses the implications of the Eutelsat contract for the Chinese satellite-construction industry.
