Abstract
- The two-term rate law -d(C1O(sub 2))/dt = k(subI)(C10(sub 2))(I(super -)) + k(sub II)(C1O(sub 2))(I(super -))(super 2) can be confirmed for the reaction of iodide ion oxidation by chlorine dioxide. Stopped-flow techniques at I = 1.0 M (NaC1O4) were used to study the oxidation. An outer-sphere electron-transfer mechanism is used to interpret the third-order and second-order paths.
