Abstract
- A toxicokinetic study of the behavior of parathion, a widely-used organophosphorus pesticide, and its primary metabolite, paraoxon, demonstrated that the two substances accumulate in rat tissues. Study results show that the main difference in the toxicokinetic behavior of parathion and paraoxon is seen in muscles, while the former behaves similarly in blood and adipose tissue. The study also showed that the two compounds accumulate principally in the liver.
