Abstract
- Japanese retailers Morioka and Okadaya are used as case studies to discuss the employment practices of Japanese companies in Hong Kong. The two companies' human resources management systems are studied and the differences are compared, using an employment systems model. The study concludes that the structured employment strategies adopted by many Japanese companies will weaken the long-term development of Japanese multinational retailers if they persist.
