Molecular recognition by a silica-bound fullerene derivative

A fulleropyrrolidine derivative is produced through the thermal ring opening of N-(3-(triethoxysilyl)propyl)-2-carbomethoxyaziridine in the presence of Csub60. The derivative is covalently attached to HPLC silica gel, and can be used to examine binding affinities of potential hosts for immobilized Csub60. High size slectivities were obtained for cyclic oligomeric compounds.
