Abstract
- Giant automobile manufacturer General Motors Corp. (GM) is emerging as one of the leaders in educating physicians on quality data and health care costs. Physicians are divided over their reaction to the innovative move by the company whose revenues reached $164 billion for 1996. Some physicians have accepted GM's efforts to help them provide quality care at minimal costs while some accuse GM of trying to reduce its employees' health care expenses which totaled $4.8 billion in 1996.<br />The carmarker hopes to apply to medicine the lessons it so painfully learned from its Japanese competitors.
