Abstract

The details of the stereospecific alkane hydroxylation with H2O2 catalyzed by an iron(II)-tris(2-pyridylmethyl)amine complex was described. Data indicated that iron(II)-tris(2-pyridylmethyl)amine complex/H2O2 behaved differently from [Fe2O(TPA)2(H2O)2]4+/tBuOOH. The resemblance in reactivity of the title compound to heme catalysts indicated that similar mechanisms may apply to both types of catalysts.
