Abstract

There are still a number of important questions to be answered about the clinical supervision model which is widely used by secondary schools in the US. This model, based on work by Goldhammer in 1969 and Cogan in 1973, contains five components. These are the pre-observation conference between the supervisor and the teacher, the classroom observation, planning by the supervisor for the post-observation conference, the post-observation conference and an analysis by the supervisor and teacher. Research indicates that teachers and principals derive considerable benefits from this model's practices and outcomes.
