Abstract
- A Gallup survey of 1003 adults conducted August 22-28, 1997, shows that 63% of Canadians would vote in favor of capital punishment for murder in a national referendum. Thirty percent would continue to oppose the death penalty, and six percent remain undecided. Support for the death penalty is highest in Western Canada, with 78% of British Columbians and 72% of Prairie residents supporting its reinstatement.
