Liberals remain comfortably atop party standings, Canadians divided on timing of election

Abstract

A Gallup survey conducted April 10-16 found that 55% of decided Canadian voters support Jean Chretien's Liberal Party. The Progressive Conservative Party falls 40 percentage points behind the Liberals. Thirty-five percent of voters remain undecided. Other federal parties, such as the Reform Party and the Conservatives, hold somewhat more opposition to the Liberals in Western Canada and Atlantic Canada respectively . The Bloc Quebecois are in a tie with the Liberals in Quebec.
