Abstract
- A Gallup survey conducted from Sep 30 to Oct 5, 1996, found 35% of Canadians believe Liberal Party leader Jean Chretien is best fitted to become Prime Minister, compared to 23% who choose Conservative Party leader Jean Charest. Reform Party leader Preston Manning is viewed as the best candidate by 8% of Canadians, while Bloc Quebecois leader Michel Gauthier is viewed as the best candidate by 3% of Canadians. Alexa McDonough from the New Democratic Party is viewed as the best candidate by 3% of Canadians.
