Canadians assess impact of lower interest rates

A Gallup survey conducted December 3-8, 1996, found 32% of Canadians feel the lower interest rates (4.5% and 5.0%) have affected their personal finances in a positive manner, 16% hold the opposite view, while 49% feel there was no impact on their finances. In terms of the impact of lower interest rates on the national economy, 58% feel it will have a positive impact, compared to 12% who hold the opposite view.
