Abstract

A research study was conducted to determine the relation of reg1, a pleiotropic regulatory gene, to amylase and chitinase genes of Streptomyces lividans. The methods used were DNA manipulations, determination of DNA sequence, construction of reg1 insertion mutants, complementation of reg1 mutant, RNA analysis and enzyme activity and protein measurements. Results showed that reg1 controls the production of chitanases and alpha-amylases.
