Abstract

Magnetic properties and microstructure of directly quenched [Nd.sub.9.5][Fe.sub.72.5][Ti.sub.3-x][M.sub.x][B.sub.15] (M=Nb and Zr) bulk magnets in rod form with a diameter of 0.9 mm are analyzed. Proper Nb or Zr substitution for Ti has modified phase constitution and has refined the grain size effectively and their high permanent magnetic property has occurred from the existence of a large volume fraction of 2:14:1 phase, finer grain size and the existence of grain boundary phase.
