Factors influencing the configuration and conformation of diamine chelate rings in platinum(II) compounds: 2,4-bis9methylamin-pentane complexes

H NMR spectroscopy, X-ray crystallography and molecular mechanics/dynamics (MMD) calculations were used to prepare and study (PtXsub2(Mesub2DAP)) complexes. An understanding of the conformations of the coordinated ligands was gained, and the study provides a useful base for investigating the utility of a molecular mechanics/dynamics method, using a force field suited to nucleic acids.
