Abstract

The resignation by ministers in the Australian federal government due to the uproar over travel expense claims likely will have the effect of delaying the implementation of economic reforms planned by the Howard government. The scandal likely will lead to the office of the Prime Minister acquiring more power over decision making, thus curtailing the power of ministers and delaying the progress and effectiveness of governance.
