Deflection of turbofan exhaust streams for enhanced engine/nacelle integration

Existing cascade thrust reverser systems for aircraft require mechanical blockers and significantly affect aircraft nacelle design/weight, cruise performance, engine maintenance and aircraft operating expense including fuel consumption even if they are used for only a small portion of the airplane's operating time. The conceptual design for a proposed blockerless engine thrust reverser system that will supply reverse thrust without a mechanical blocker is analyzed.
