Abstract
- The compounds Sc8Te3 and Y8Te3 were synthesized by high-temperature solid-state methods. Their structures were determined by single-crystal and powder X-ray diffraction techniques. The layered structure of the said compounds were observed to be made of a complex network of chains of trans-edge-sharing metal octahedra condensed into two kinds of corrugated sheets that are kept apart by tellurium.
