Abstract

The static space charge density of evaporated ZnS:Mn alternating-current thin-film electroluminescent (ACTFEL) devices is estimated based on trends in the phosphor clamping field. The estimate suggests a cathode clamping field of around 2.2 MV/cm and a clamping interface trap death of some 1.5 eV. While the space charge of the static charge does not alter even during the operation of the ACTFEL device, the dynamic space charge is occasionally created and eliminated during applied voltage waveform.
