Abstract

It is predicted between 1-2% of the UK population have a form of obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). The main obsession sufferers experience is to continually check for contamination. Many hide their condition or are unaware of the cause of their problem. It has been discovered OCD may be partly caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain. Some people have found the BT Steps Clinic very helpful in overcoming their obsession. The use of behaviour therapy can make an enormous difference to sufferers, with 90% experiencing some improvement in their behaviour patterns.
