Abstract

The article studies the photoluminescence properties of [Eu.sup.2+]-activated Ca[Si.sub.2][O.sub.2][N.sub.2] using solid-state reaction method. Results reveal that the energy transfer mechanism must take place directly to dipole-dipole interactions between [Eu.sub.2+] ions, ensuing in a shift in emission spectrum toward longer wavelengths with increasing [Eu.sub.2+] concentration.
