Abstract
- Sound localization in mammals and birds uses coincidence-detector neurons in the auditory brainstem to map interaural time differences. A new study uses a simple computational model to simulate the known geometry and electrophysiology of the cells to show that dendrites are able to improve their coincidence detection properties.
