Abstract

Beef cattle must be administered with supplemental biotin in order to enhance their milk production and increase their resistance against various hoof disorders. Preferably, cows must be fed daily with at least 20 mg of biotin through the lactation period, so as to ensure that demand is not exceeded by biological supply. Biotin is actually a sulfur-containing, water soluble vitamin that induces the synthesis of fatty acid, amino acids and glucose.
