Abstract

The rapid rise of energy consumption in China has led to legislative reforms aimed at attracting foreign investment in energy development. For offshore and onshore operations, the government offers foreign investment contracts assuring protection, production-sharing, revenue-sharing, proper bidding procedures, license grants and exclusive rights over pre-identified blocks.
