Separation of peripheral and central cardiovascular actions of angiotensin II

Research shows that biochemical angiotensin II (Ang II) takes direct pressor action via the vascular system without requiring interaction of the sympathetic nervous system. Contrastingly, Ang II depends on the central sympathetic nervous system to achieve vasoconstriction. Experiments designed to measure Ang II's pressor and vascular functions are described.
