Reactivity of phosphate diesters doubly coordinated to a dinuclear cobalt(III) complex: dependence of the reactivity on the basicity of the leaving group

A study was conducted to examine the reactivities of several phosphate diesters coordinated to a dinuclear Co(III) complex. Results indicated that the hydrolysis of the phosphate diesters are supported by an intramolecular oxide attack on the bridging phosphate. Findings also showed no significant proton transfer from the solvent to the leaving group in the rate-determining state.
