Abstract

The synthesis and characterization of pillared derivatives of gamma-zirconium phosphate, ZrP04[O2P(OH)2]1-x[O2-POH-(CH2)n-HOPO2]X/2.mH20 between the colloidal dispersions of exfoliated lamellae of gamma-ZrPO4[O2P(OH)2].2H2O and the 1,n-alkanedisphosphonic acid solutions were described. Soft topotactic reactions were found to be effective in preparing gamma-Zirconium phosphate derivatives. The gallery height of the derivatives ranged from 0.36 to 1.4 nm, while large lateral distances depended on the degree of pillaring.
