Abstract
- Ab initio structure solutions of two solvent containing potassium phenoxides using high-resolution powder x-ray diffraction methods are described. The new pseudoatom technique used in previous study of the structure solution of C6H5OK6 was also applied in the experiment. The compounds exhibited polymeric zigzag chains aligned along the c-axis. It was also observed that the coordination of the potassium was the same for both compounds. The resulting compounds can be used in the classification of the mechanism of Kolbe-Schmitt type reactions.
