Abstract

Inventory buffer decisions are relatively affected by different disassembly release mechanisms (DRM) methods in the flow of parts from the disassembly stage to the remanufacturing stage in the context of a remanufacturing environment. The proper location of these buffers is an important managerial decision because they are used to harmonize the flow of parts from disassembly, remanufacturing, to reassembly phases. It is shown that flush DRM is the best method to utilize for serial number specific parts in different levels of shop utilization.
