Abstract

A Gallup survey conducted November 17-23, 1997, showed that 48% of Canadians believe that poorer areas should receive more money from the federal government. This is a 10% rise over last year's figure. Only 5% of respondents believe that spending should be decreased, while 35% support keeping federal spending for regional development at its current level.
