BP sells assets for $7 billion: deal with Apache to help fund cleanup efforts; tests continue on well cap

In an effort to raise funds to pay for claims resulting from the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, BP PLC will sell non-core oil and gas assets to Apache Corp. for $7 billion. The assets represent about 2.3% of BP's global gas and oil production.
