Abstract

A study is conducted to identify and quantify precursor species of Brust-Schiffrin metal nanoparticle syntheses for Au, Ag, and Cu systems. The study result outlined a new scheme for the two-phase synthesis and could have significant implications for the M(I) thiolate formation and modifications in nanoparticle synthesis.
