Abstract

The reanalysis of the kinetics and molecularity of the Newman-Kwart rearrangement of N,N-dimethyl O-(p-nitrophenyl)thiocarbamate in N,N-dimethylacetamide solvent is described. The studies have shown that under the microwave heating conditions, a delayed negative feedback signal to the microwave power balancing loop has resulted in oscillatory reaction overheating and due to higher tan [delta] in the solute the amplitude of the oscillation has increased with the concentration of N,N-dimethyl O-(p-nitrophenyl)thiocarbamate.
