U.K. firm resists Simon Property demand

Capital Shopping Centres Group (CSC) is seeking to buy the Trafford Centre mall in Manchester for 747.6 million pounds. As part of the deal, Trafford's present owner - Peel Holdings Ltd. - would receive a stake of nearly 20% in CSC. Simon Property Group Inc. - which owns 5.6% of CSC - opposes that deal and said it may launch a bid for CSC. CSC refused Simon's request for financial information and urged investors to support the Trafford acquisition.
