U.K. bank levy to raise nearly $4 billion

Between 30 and 40 banks and savings and loan associations in the UK will have to pay a levy to the government every year to offset the risks they represent to the British economy. The government is expected to raise 2.5 billion pounds sterling a year beginning in 2012.
