Abstract
- Myanmar's Tatmadaw, or armed forces, has increased defense expenditure and procurements since it seized power in 1988, driven mainly by external and domestic security concerns. However, despite the growing defense spending, the Tatmadaw continues to face a staffing crisis, including low troop morale and potential dissent by senior commanders.
