DIF trees: using classification trees to detect differential item functioning

A look at a nonparametric tree classification procedure to detect differential item functioning (DIF) for items that are dichotomously scored is presented. The classification trees are shown as alternative procedure to detect DIF other than the use of traditional Mantel-Haenszel and logistic regression analysis.
