Search widens for new radars

The Air Force is developing Senior Glass 1R, a single payload that consolidates all types of US aircraft and satellites that collect electronic signals emitted by foreign air defense systems. These aircraft and satellites include the Air Force's U-2S, RC-135U Combat Sent and RC-135V/W Rivet Joint; the Navy's EP-3E Aries 2 and ES-3 Shadows; and several 'ferret' satellites. All these systems are equipped with intelligence-gathering packages that has the capability to monitor, collect and process radar emissions coming from foreign defense systems.
