Pattern of neuronal activation in rats with CHF after myocardial infarction

A study was conducted to analyze neuronal populations that may influence sympathetic hyperactivity in rats with congestive heart failure. Myocardial infarction, immunohistochemical detection of Fra-like immunoreactivity was utilized as a marker for long-term neuronal activation. An affinity-purified rabbit polyclonal antibody was used to detect Fra-like immunoreactivity. Results indicated an activation of neurons by Fra-like immunoreactivity in cardiovascular control centers.
