Abstract

Research was conducted to examine the different transformations in the carboxylate/diphenylphosphate and diphenylphosphate/carboxylate exchanges in asymmetric diiron complexes. Electronic absorption spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, NMR and electrochemistry were used to investigate the ligand exchanges. Results reveal that the carboxylate/diphenylphosphate exchange strongly relies on the redox state of the diiron center. Findings also demonstrate that reduction to the mixed-valent state is occurring along with the ligand exchanges in the diferric complexes.
