Abstract
- The island nations in the Pacific Ocean near the International Date Line are competing for tourist dollars for the 2000 New Year's Celebrations. Kiribati unilaterally moved the Date Line to 150 degrees west in order to be the first nation to see the sun rise on Jan 1st, 2000. Tonga has hired Adnan Khashoggi's son to organize their New Year's Celebrations on an Olympic scale. New Zealand already has the infrastructure and the resources to benefit from the millennium tourist industry.
