Abstract

The advantages of open architecture, personal computer (PC)-based computer numerical controls (CNCs) in metalworking or machining have been discussed within the industry since about 1993. However, relatively few users have witnessed the apparently major benefits of such PC-based CNC functionalities on their shop floors.
