Abstract
- A study was undertaken to prepare and investigate the structure of the crystals from the violet solution quantified as Cl2O2+SbF6- of Cl2O2+Sb2F11- utilizing Raman spectroscopy, ab initio calculations and electron paramagnetic resonance measurements. The reaction of Cl2 with O2+SbF6- in anhydrous HF at -78 degrees C produced deep violet solutions due to the Cl2O2+ cation. Results revealed that needle-shaped black crystals of Cl2O2+SbF6- can be produced by slow cooling from -40 to -78 degrees C.
