Abstract
- A study was conducted on the electric field present in alkaline earth exchanged beta using carbon as a probe. The spectra obtained from the Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy tests on CO adsorbed on Ba-beta, Sr-beta, Ca-beta, and Mg-beta suggested the presence of several different adsorption sites. To determine the effect of different alkaline earth cations on the calculated vibrational frequencies for the model compound M(OH)2-CO, quantum chemical ab initio calculations were used.
