Abstract

An integrative model was developed to predict the social, academic and psychological adjustments of children with sickle cell disease. The proposed model shows that three individual coping and family functioning variables significantly affect the child's psychological outcome. These include parental psychological functioning, maturity demands made of the ill child, and the quality of relations with parents and siblings.
